The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty good at the minute. It’s been a decent few weeks for the Reds, and January could prove to be even better. Having secured the signing of Virgil van Dijk, Jurgen Klopp’s men are in a very good position at present, but it appears as though the German could yet make another signing this month.
According to the Daily Mail, PSG are set to make a move for midfielder Jean Michael-Seri – who Liverpool have a long-held interest in. Significantly, though, the accelerated movement from PSG, according to the Daily Mail, could force Liverpool to make a decision, and Klopp’s side could even make a move this month as they look to win the race.
It seems as though Liverpool would have preferred to continue scouting him this season, with a view to a potential summer move. However, with PSG’s latest transfer decision, Klopp could have little choice but to make his move now.
Seri’s certainly a player worth moving for, though. A deep-lying midfielder by trade, Seri is fantastic with the ball at his feet – with great passing, technique and tackling all contributing to what has been a stellar campaign for the Ivorian.
At 26-years-old, he’s a player that is entering the prime of his career, and he’d almost definitely be a good fit at Anfield. Alongside top quality players like Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana, Seri would likely become a crucial part of an already impressive midfield if he made the move.
That said, it’s not going to be easy for Liverpool, with competition high for the Ivorian. That is, of course, if the Reds even end up making their move.
Liverpool have a lot of quality in midfield, but Seri would be an upgrade, undoubtedly.
A big move is certainly in his future, but it will take all of Liverpool’s negotiation skill to be able to land this signing.
