Liverpool may have ended their Premier League campaign with some disappointment following Manchester City’s final day win, however, Jurgen Klopp’s side can still finish the season on a high.
A Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur still remains to be played as the Reds will look to rectify the nightmare they had at the same stage of last year’s tournament.
However, it appears it could be the last game in a Liverpool shirt for one man as his brief stay at Anfield could be about to come to an abrupt end.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Daily Mail, the Premier League giants could be prepared to offload Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.
The Switzerland international has not been at the club for 12 months, however, it appears Klopp is ready to freshen things up and could look to let the 27-year-old leave already.
Although it might be rather surprising to hear that Shaqiri could already be on his way out of the club just a year into the five-year deal he signed with them, it might actually make some sense for all involved.
The former Stoke City man is a gifted and quality winger, however, he has not had a real chance to show what he can do at Liverpool this season, with the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah all playing extremely well.
The Switzerland international could fetch Liverpool a rather lucrative transfer fee and they could easily recoup, or even make a profit, on the £13million fee (BBC) they paid the Potters last summer to sign him.
However, you cannot help but feel this is one of those deals that is unlikely to happen unless they sign a quality winger to replace him and whether Klopp is ready to move on from Shaqiri already is something that remains to be seen.
