The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t quite believe how much money their side is spending at present. Big names like Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk are set to move to Anfield over the next 6 months, and it appears as though their spending could well continue.
According to Melissa Ruddy of Goal, Liverpool could yet move for Thomas Lemar of Monaco, who is currently rated at £92 million, next summer. However, their interest could be based on the condition that his £92 million asking price is reduced somewhat, with the Reds clearly hesitant to spend that much on the Frenchman.
It’s certainly been a change of pace from Liverpool over the last few months. They’ve previously been unwilling to spend big in the market, but with a new-found confidence and desire under Jurgen Klopp, it appears as though their aspirations are sky high once more.
The signings of both Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk have certainly put down a marker for the Reds, but signing Thomas Lemar would take that to the next level. The Frenchman has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting players over the last 18 months, and he would add another dimension to what is already a deadly attacking line.
It’s fair to say that our resident Reds are feeling pretty excited.
Lemar is one of Europe’s best. Offering pace, goals and technical brilliance, the Frenchman would be an incredible signing.
However, Ruddy’s comments don’t seem to hint at a definite move. It’s more of a case of, if his asking price is reduced, then the Reds may well consider him.
No doubt, though, this is a testament to Liverpool’s aspirations.
