Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been feeling a little left out over the past few weeks, whilst the Chelsea fans continue their title celebrations the rest of the top four have been pressing on with things and announcing summer signings.
With that in mind, the punters in this evening are keen to know just how brave the Reds are going to be before the new season, after reports from the print edition of L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) claimed that French champions Monaco would be holding off for a huge bid in regards to left-back Benjamin Mendy.
The 22-year-old, who has been linked with both Liverpool and Chelsea – as well as Premier League rivals Manchester City, played a key role in helping Leonardo Jardim lead the club to it’s first title in 17 years, as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League.
His performances have turned heads on the continent, however, the principality side are looking to keep hold of their man, but could be swayed by a hefty offer.
Our landlord reckons that, while it means it will cost more, Chelsea fans will be happier with this than their Merseyside counterparts, given their evidently deeper pockets.
