It has been a busy day for Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern and the Daily Star are only adding to that ahead of their Captial One Cup semi-final tie against Chelsea.
The publication seems to think that the Reds are no longer keen on bringing Belgian international forward Divock Origi back to Anfield half a season earlier than his original loan spell dictated.
This is after with Brendan Rodgers became happy to leave the forward at Lille for the rest of the season and plough on with the attacking options he already has available.
Now as our regulars note, we do not think that stance will help in their quest for a top four finish and despite Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert managing to score against Aston Villa, there is no denying that the Reds look worryingly inept up top. That said, the return of Daniel Sturridge may change all of that while bringing the best out of others.
Clearly that is what Rodgers is relying on but the majority of our Reds fans in the tavern would still like to see an additional striker signed this January transfer window with West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino identified by a few resident punters as an attainable solution.
Liverpool fans. Is this the best decision? Will waiting for Daniel Sturridge to come back to fitness pay off? Let us know your thoughts below.
