According to Metro, the Reds have become firm favourites to snap up Joe Hart with the English international fearing for his Manchester City future after revealing that he has not been approached regarding a new deal.
Hart has under two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and by now the goalkeeper would have expected some activity regarding a new deal.
The 27-year-old has not heard anything about a new deal and is unaware of the Citizens’ intentions.
“Anything about a new contract is news to me,” Hart said. “I’ve heard nothing. I’ve got a year, nearly two years, left on my deal. That is all I am aware of.”
Liverpool won’t be the only club interested in Hart if he does become unsettled at City although a move to Liverpool would certainly make sense after Reds fans witnessed some unconvincing performances from Simon Mignolet so far this term.
The punters are already aware of Brendan Rodgers’ intentions of finding another goalkeeper with the Northern Irishman already reviewing former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes who is out of contract.
