Liverpool eye La Liga hitman as Suarez transfer replacement

Karim BenzemaLiverpool fans are looking over at our landlord here in the Football Transfer Tavern and it is not because they want another pint.

They want to hear all about the latest claim from Metro who think the Reds already have their Luis Suarez replacement in mind.

Brendan Rodgers and his men have reportedly identified Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema as the man they want to replace the Barcelona bound bad boy and are willing to pay £40 million for him.

Now as some of our La Liga watchers note, Benzema has flattered to deceive during some periods in his Real Madrid career but he enjoyed a prosperous 2013/14 campaign and is quite rightly categorised among the best strikers in Europe.

The Frenchman can also struggle mentally at times and is not the best under pressure, and we think it would be a massive gamble to bring him to a new country when he has only just managed to settle in Spain.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid may be willing to sell should the price be right, with Radamel Falcao reported to be joining this summer, even being handed the number nine shirt which Benzema current occupies for Los Blancos.

Liverpool fans. Would the French international striker represent an adequate replacement for Chewy Luis Suarez? Let us know your thoughts below.
