Just yesterday here at the Football Transfer Tavern we were discussing the fact that Brendan Rodgers is preparing himself for bids for his big name players and now the Daily Mail claim that Liverpool are after a summer import of their own.
The club are apparently after Lyon defender Dejan Lovren who has been impressive in his performances for the French side this term. The Merseyside club are of course reeling from the news that Jamie Carragher is set to retire in the summer and whilst we may still be able to see him on Sky Sports as a pundit, the club are desperately trying to replace him in their side.
They see centre back Lovren as the ideal option, yet would still have to fight it out for the player with a host of clubs interested including Premier League rivals Chelsea and Everton.
The 23-year-old is imposing and commanding at the back and stands at 6 ft 2 inches tall – making him ideal to pop up and net a goal from a set piece too. Not only this but he is a Croatian international and has made 65 appearances for Lyon since joining in 2010.
Do you think Liverpool could win the battle for Lovren? Rate this rumour below.
