The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are still pretty disappointed after a crushing defeat to Swansea City at the weekend…
The Reds have been struggling over the last few weeks, and whilst a Premier League title challenge was expected leading into the festive period – the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling decidedly less confident now.
Jurgen Klopp is quickly entering a season defining period of the year, with the prospect of a trip of Wembley alongside a chance to move 3 points closer to league leaders Chelsea in the offering over the next few weeks – and the German must ensure that he has enough resources to cover the mammoth task that he has ahead of him.
The Reds have been quiet in the transfer window so far, but the Liverpool fans in the Tavern are hoping that that could change between now and the end of the month – and it would appear as though they could get their wish.
According to the Sun, Liverpool have entered the race for talented AS Eupen man Henry Onyekuru – with the forward impressing so far this season.
In a recent interview with African Football, Onyekuru revealed that Celtic were also keen – signalling that a Liverpool deal for the forward may not come easily.
At 19-years-old, Onyekuru is clearly an option for the future, but he has proven his worth with his club already this season. He has, according to whoscored.com, scored 12 goals in all competitions so far, and that fine form has seemingly attracted the interest of a number of top sides – with Liverpool one of them.
Liverpool’s need for a bit of offensive depth is clear, with Daniel Sturridge not trusted by manager Jurgen Klopp. The likes of Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino have done well this year, but neither have really set the Premier League alight – and if Onyekuru can bring his fine form to the Premier League, Liverpool could begin to really challenge at the top.
