Eyebrows have been raised here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed by the Daily Mirror that Liverpool still think they are set to land Blackpool’s Tom Ince.
The Premier League side saw advances turned down in January and were not willing to stump up the £6 million fee it would have taken to bring the forward to Anfield given that he only has 12 months remaining on his current contract at Bloomfield Road.
The player himself felt that a chance for the big move had all but been extinguished, yet there is hope for him yet. Brendan Rodgers sees Ince as someone who will be one of the best in the Premier League in a few years time and is determined to net the player in the not so distant future. He feels a £4 million bid given the length of Ince’s contract and the fact his father is in charge at the club may well push through a deal in the summer.
Tom Ince himself noted that: “For me though it’s about putting my faith in Blackpool because without that club, my team-mates and the fans I wouldn’t be Football League Young Player of the Year and the player I am now. My dream is to play at the top level and to achieve my ambitions, but it’s all about timing and patience, so when you get to the top you are ready to go and not jumping too soon.”
Will Ince finally seal a return to Anfield in the summer? Rate this rumour below.
