Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up interest with after the claims from talkSPORT who feel that the club will face competition in their race to land Sporting Lisbon star Diego Capel.
Ligue 1 has firmly planted itself on the map in the last couple of seasons and whilst it has mostly been Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco that we have been discussing as they seemingly buy up all of the top players on offer in Europe, it now seems that Marseille are also about to get in on the action.
Diego Capel has found himself not only on the radar of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers who is on the hunt for top players who he feels that can help push his side to that next level, but also the French side.
Both clubs are willing to begin discussions with Sporting who of course are in a rather tricky financial situation at the minute and will look to hold out for around £6 million for the former Sevilla player – currently double what Marseille are offering.
Rodgers of course is looking to sort out the future of Luis Suarez who is edging closer to the exit door and given the finances that move will recoup, Rodgers could well see his transfer kitty boosted considerably.
Liverpool are also reportedly in the hunt for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Porto’s Christian Atsu and Sevilla’s Luis Alberto.
