Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been ripping into Joey Barton for comments he made on Talksport this morning, regarding the Jamie Carragher spitting incident. Carragher was filmed spitting at a Manchester United fan and his 14-year-old daughter whilst driving home from Old Trafford after Liverpool lost 2-1 against Manchester United on Saturday.
Barton’s criticism has been viewed as ironic by a number of Liverpool fans, given his history of making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The ex-Manchester City and Marseille man claimed that Sky should be considering sacking Carragher from his punditry role with the broadcasters after the footage of Carragher was released last night.
Now 40-years-old, Carragher has been retired for almost five years after hanging up his boots back in 2013 following a 17-year career at Liverpool. After his retirement in 2013, the defender signed a deal with Sky to join the team as a pundit and co-host of Monday Night Football with Gary Neville and Ed Chamberlain.

Of all people, Joey Barton is not in a position to take the moral high ground with Carragher.
