Liverpool supporters have been reasonably satisfied in recent times despite seeing their side head into the current two-week break for internationals winless in their last four matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s men did hold a 100% start to the new season following a 3-0 success over Southampton in the Premier League back on September 22, only to then lose 2-1 at home to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, before drawing 1-1 at Stamford Bridge a few days later in the league. And a defeat in Napoli in the Champions League followed before a meeting with Premier League champions Manchester City just prior to the fortnight’s interruption, which saw the two title rivals play out a 0-0 draw to leave the Reds winless in four games.

Nonetheless, there have been many satisfied Liverpudlians up and down the country in recent times such has been their side’s solid start to the 2018/19 campaign, with several recently taking to Twitter to comment upon rumours linking striker Divock Origi with a move to rivals Everton.

And while it would be something of a controversial move, what with few players moving across the city in recent years, those Liverpool fans calling for the young forward to indeed make the move to Goodison Park are spot on, as it would be in the best interests of all parties involved.

Ultimately, 23-year-old Origi has found the going tough at Anfield in the last few years, to the point that manager Klopp shipped him out on loan to Wolfsburg for the entirety of last season such was his lowly position in the pecking order.

And with Daniel Sturridge brilliantly returning to form in the early phase of this term, Origi has fallen even further down the forward pecking order, with the Belgium international failing to appear in any of the Reds’ matchday squads so far this season.

Thus, the writing does appear to be on the wall for the 23-year-old, and with bitter rivals Everton clearly in need of striking power of their own, a move to Goodison Park could get the best out of Origi once again.

Marco Silva’s men have struggled in the striking ranks for some time now and the current options at the club don’t inspire a great deal of confidence, and if the Portuguese is seeking to take the club forward in the coming years, he needs someone who will reliably and consistently put the ball in the back of the net.

And while Origi hasn’t always proven to be hugely prolific during his time at Anfield, he still has 12 Premier League goals to his name and has reached at least ten goals in all competitions in both of his prior full seasons at the club - he can produce the goods when called upon.

And with the striker seemingly in need of a move away for the better of his career, alongside Everton’s need for forward reinforcements, striking a deal between the two Merseyside rivals appears to be in the best interests of all parties involved.

And while it would be something of a controversial move, those Liverpool fans calling for Origi’s departure across the city are spot on.
