Liverpool fans are all saying the same thing on Twitter following recent Southampton reports

Liverpool supporters have been somewhat deflated in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team’s 18-match unbeaten run in all competitions come to an end courtesy of a 1-0 defeat at Swansea City on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash in South Wales having not tasted defeat since the rear end of October, and off the back of beating Premier League runaway leaders Manchester City in their previous encounter. Yet the Reds produced a lacklustre display and were deservedly beaten thanks to Alfie Mawson’s strike just before half time, thus clinching a vital three points for the struggling Swans, at the same time putting a dent in Liverpool’s top four aspirations.

Subsequently, there have been some disappointed Liverpudlians in the Tavern in the last few days, several of whom are hoping Monday’s result and performance was nothing more than a blip, and normal service will be resumed against West Brom in the FA Cup this weekend.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Reds fans to discuss, not least recent reports suggesting that Southampton have agreed a deal with Monaco to sign forward Guido Carrillo.

The 26-year-old has struggled for regular football at the Stade Louis II but has worked under now-Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino before during their stints at Estudiantes, and looks set for a reunion with his compatriot at St Mary’s.

But given Liverpool’s recent transfer dealings with Southampton, not least their most recent one in landing Virgil van Dijk for £75 million, Reds fans were all saying the same thing on Twitter in reaction to the news…
