Liverpool were able to keep their one hundred percent start to the season intact after they beat Southampton 3-0 at Anfield last Saturday.
Chelsea, on the other hand, saw theirs come to an end following their 0-0 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium, and the Blues will now be looking to get back to winning ways when they travel to Liverpool tomorrow for the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Wednesday’s League Cup clash between Liverpool and Chelsea will be the first of two encounters in the space of three days with both clubs set to do battle again with a Premier League tie at Stamford Bridge set to follow.
And it does not get any easier for Jurgen Klopp’s men with games against Napoli and Manchester City awaiting them after their trip to west London on Saturday.
While Chelsea, too, have begun this campaign well, they are still a work in progress under Maurizio Sarri and have weaknesses that a team such as Liverpool should have no problem in exploiting.
Sarri has already admitted on more than one occasion that his side needs to improve in defensive transitions (via the Telegraph), considering that, Liverpool will undoubtedly fancy their chances in both encounters.
As for Manchester City, Klopp will feel he has the upper hand on Pep Guardiola having beaten the Premier League champions on three occasions last season.
As often seen in such humongous clashes, there are so many twists and turns that no one sees coming. With that in mind, Liverpool’s next three games could go either way. Supporters, though, are remaining optimistic, which is to be expected given the form Klopp’s side are currently in.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
