Liverpool have made a brilliant start to the season and look as though they’ll be a serious contender for the title this season, despite some slightly sluggish performances of late.
Jurgen Klopp was heavily backed in the transfer window. Liverpool brought in Xherdan Shaqiri, Fabinho, Alisson and Naby Keita into and although some of the new recruits haven’t quite hit form yet this season, all four are massive upgrades on the side.
However, some of the best players for Liverpool this season have been the likes of Andrew Robertson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Strangely, recently some Liverpool fans have been calling for Alexander-Arnold to be dropped in favour of the club’s forgotten man, Nathaniel Clyne.
Although Liverpool beat Fulham at the weekend, it wasn’t a great performance from Klopp’s side. Following on from the club’s terrible loss to Red Star Belgrade last week, it’s fair to say that Liverpool look slightly sluggish and in need of a break.
While Klopp could well shake things up, to call for Alexander Arnold to be removed is a terrible call from the Liverpool fans. The young defender has been superb this season and is ideal in Klopp’s high-press, quick transition side.
In tandem with Robertson, Alexander-Arnold is one of the better fullbacks in the league and is superb going forward. His early ball delivery is great and his energy down the right-flank is a huge aspect of Liverpool’s attack.
At the moment, it looks as though there a few players being targeted due to the club’s slightly disappointing season. What the Liverpool fans need to remember is that their side is only two points off City and is yet to kick into form.
Taking the young fullback out would be a bad move and one that wouldn’t improve the side that much.
