The Liverpool fans were absolutely ecstatic in the Transfer Tavern last night after their side all but secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with an emphatic 5-0 victory over FC Porto at the Estadio Do Dragao.
Jurgen Klopp’s side travelled to Portugal last night for a tricky looking first-leg fixture against the undefeated league-leaders in Liga Nos, but they made light work of their fixture and recorded a victory which will ensure their passage to the next round of the competition. Liverpool’s front-three of Firmino, Salah and Mane were in exhilarating form for The Reds, as their opponents desperately struggled to prevent them from running riot in the final-third.
Mane returned to goal-scoring form with his first hat-trick for the club, whilst Salah and Firmino each added a goal of their own to complete a perfect night for Liverpool.
Liverpool’s deadly front-three deservedly claimed the plaudits in the aftermath of proceedings, but the supporters on Twitter were also eager to heap praise on their defence for keeping their second clean sheet in as many games.
Plenty of the supporters have hailed Virgil Van Dijk’s impact on the defensive unit and claimed he has enabled Dejan Lovren to find his best form for the club, but plenty of The Reds faithful also believe that Andrew Robertson is the man behind Lovren’s recent upturn.
The Liverpool fans have been delighted with Robertson’s performances since he stepped in to replace Alberto Moreno at the beginning of December, but it seems they have been most impressed with his ability to stabilise the entirety of their defence.
Here’s what the Liverpool supporters on Twitter have had to say about Robertson’s impact on Lovren…
Think Andy Robertson deserves a lot of praise too. His crossing is quality and he knows how to defend

It’s because @lfc18alberto isn’t pulling him out of position

It's not Van Dijk it's Robertson.. I've told you this before, or more so the lack of Moreno

Said the same thing to my fams. Lovren has to cover left centre back and left back position. Incoming mistakes regardless how good you are.

The gem in Liverpool FC defence is Andy Robertson young enthusiastic athletic and a quick thinker that’s that position sealed and I will be disappointed if Klopp starts fiddling with him as he needs more games and experience. Well done Andy
