Liverpool: Fans drooling over Xabi Alonso after club’s Twitter post

There is no doubting that Xabi Alonso is a Liverpool legend.
The Spanish former midfielder made 210 appearances for the Reds and helped them win the FA Cup in 2006 and perhaps more famously the UEFA Champions League in 2005 (via Transfermarkt).
Alonso played a key role in that Champions League win, especially in the final against AC Milan in Istanbul. The Reds had gone in at half-time 3-0 down, but managed to pull it back to 3-2 before winning a penalty.
It was the Spaniard who stepped up to take it, and although he missed he managed to score the rebound and made it 3-3, giving the Reds the platform to then go on and win the trophy on penalties.
That was one of 18 goals Alonso managed to score whilst at Anfield, and there were some memorable strikes including one from his own half against Luton Town.
October 16th 2019 marked the 15-year anniversary since Alonso scored his first-ever goal for Liverpool, which was a superb free-kick against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The club’s official Twitter account posted a clip of the strike, which led to several fans fondly remembering the midfielders time at the club…
