Dejan Lovren has missed the start of the season through injury after playing his way to both the Champions League and World Cup finals over the last six months or so and the fans are now ready to welcome the Croatian defender back with open arms.

Jurgen Klopp faced the press yesterday and confirmed that the defender would be eligible for selection in tonight’s pick of the Carabao Cup matches at Anfield. The Reds will be hosting Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea and both bosses are expected to ring the changes. Lovren could be eased back in with this clash and will be keen to win his place back alongside Virgil van Dijk, however, it won’t be easy given Joe Gomez’s current form.
The Croatian defender was a vital cog in both the Liverpool and Croatian sides that made it to the Champions League and World Cup finals and now that he’s back and fit the fans will be hoping he can make an impact and help them kick on to get through their next four tough matches with their 100% win record intact. It won’t be easy, but there’s no doubting that an in-form Lovren can help do it.
You can read The Kopites’ verdict on Lovren here:
Because Gomez has had a few good games doesn't make him better than Lovren. Now the games have begun. Chelsea twice n Man City n Napoli in less than a fortnight ain't no joke. The weak will choke. Lovren is the real deal.

Lovren doesn’t train ‘normal’… He trains on a level far above anyone else. He is, after all, the world’s best defender..

Had a feeling Lovren might start. Might get yelled at but I'm glad he is resting the starters for Saturday's far more important game.
