Liverpool: Fans heap praise on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after Genk brace

Liverpool secured a relatively comfortable 4-1 victory against Genk in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday (via BBC Sport).

Goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and a brace from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain secured three points for the Reds, who are second in Group E and just one point behind Napoli (BBC Sport).

Fans were particularly impressed with Oxlade-Chamberlain after the game, and were also delighted for the England international who has struggled with a major injury recently.

Indeed, the 26-year-old missed almost the whole of the 2018/19 season through injury, playing just 19 minutes of Premier League football and failing to make a single Champions League appearance (via Transfermarkt).

He has struggled to force his way into the line-up this season too, and prior to the trip to Genk, he had managed just three starts, two in the Premier League and one in the EFL Cup (Transfermarkt).

However, he grasped his opportunity with both hands in Belgium. As already mentioned, he managed to score two goals (Transfermarkt), including an outstanding effort with the outside of his foot which will have given Jurgen Klopp food for thought when he comes to select his starting 11 for their next game against Tottenham.

After the game, Oxlade-Chamberlain posted on his official Twitter account, and lots of Liverpool fans were quick to heap praise on the former Arsenal midfielder for his performance.

Here is what some of them had to say…
