David N’Gog was by no means a Liverpool legend, but this priceless goal he scored against one of the Reds’ fiercest rivals – Manchester United – will forever be remembered among fans of the Merseyside club.
The former U21 France international scored 19 goals in 94 appearances for the Reds during his time at Anfield, via Transfermarkt.
And while he may not have been the most prolific frontman Liverpool Football Club has ever seen, if you were not a fan of football and simply stumbled across a clip of his goal against the Red Devils, you would be forgiven if you assumed he was one of the coolest strikers in world football.
After a surging run was neatly picked out by former teammate Dirk Kuyt, N’Gog picked up the ball from roughly 30 yards out and still had plenty to do.
Many would panic in his situation; get scared about the amount of time he had to pick a finish, but the 17-capped France U21 striker did not, calmly carrying the ball forward before slotting it home into the bottom corner past Edwin van der Sar in the United net.
The goal was 10 years ago today, and Liverpool tweeted a clip of it in honour of Pepe Reina’s elaborate celebration – here’s how some (very nostalgic) Reds fans reacted to it:
The fact that he got to N’Gog quicker than anyone else always amazed me 😀

To be fair to Ngog it wasn’t a bad finish.
