Liverpool fans on Twitter are loving Camacho’s pre-season displays

Liverpool always manage to pull a little gem from their academy and have done over the last few seasons. Be it Ben Woodburn or Rhian Brewster who are believed to have big futures but are yet to make and Anfield impact or Trent Alexander-Arnold who’s set the world alight. This time around it’s young Rafa Camacho and the fans are buzzing to see the versatile youngster amongst the first-team.

The young Portuguese star joined Liverpool’s academy set-up when he left The Etihad back in 2016 and he’s already made The Citizens regret moving him on, just 24 months after they made the decision to let him go. This pre-season has seen Jurgen Klopp using the Portuguese winger as a makeshift right-back. That might sound strange, but his ability to bomb forward on the overlap and swing a ball in have made him very effective at right full-back.

The 18-year-old started on the bench against his former club when the Reds took on City in the early hours of Thursday morning, however, after coming on in the 62nd minute he made a crucial impact when he played a sublime ball in for Mo Salah, who had come on as a sub with Camacho just a minute earlier, to head the ball past Joe Hart in the Manchester City net.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see young Camacho given some senior minutes this season after his impressive performances in pre-season.
