Liverpool took to Twitter, with a link to their website, yesterday to announce their latest squad numbers for the new season and the fans aren’t best pleased with who’s wearing what. Alisson Becker is the major one that has caused dispute among the fans as they wanted to see him take Loris Karius’ number one jersey.
Our 18/19 squad numbers have been confirmed.

The news of their new ‘keeper wearing the number 13 shirt is not good news for the fans. A lot of supporters want to see their German shot-stopper relinquish the number one shirt to their latest addition between the sticks. Alisson Becker is everything the club has been missing in a goalkeeper and the commanding Brazilian should make a huge improvement to their squad as they aim to win the Premier League.
The other two notable changes for numbers have been new signing Fabinho taking the number 3 jersey and young Rhian Brewster taking the number 24. They’re the only major changes and whilst Liverpool fans are pleased to finally know who’s wearing what number, they’re all wishing that they could have known sooner. Fans think that Fabinho was holding out for Simon Mignolet’s number 22 but instead he’ll have to wear the 3 shirt, it shouldn’t be a problem though, as he and Alisson both prepare for potential debuts tomorrow.

Alisson, Fabinho and Brewster are keeping their “temporary” numbers after all.

The fans will get over their disappointment with the number sooner or later, and that will be sooner if they can get three points against West Ham tomorrow.
