Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign with a comfortable 4-0 over West Ham at Anfield on Sunday and then yesterday the club celebrated the 41st anniversary of Kenny Dalglish’s debut. King Kenny, as he’s affectionately known on Merseyside, was a Red for 13 years before he retired and he’s since gone on to manage the club twice.

Dalglish is one of the two best players in the clubs history alongside Steven Gerrard and he will always be held in high esteem by the supporters who still view the 67-year-old as a club legend. Now, though, it’s a different brand of Liverpool stars who are the heroes, with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino lighting up Anfield and the fans will be expecting silverware to come soon.
The Scottish legend would definitely approve of the brand of football that Jurgen Klopp has the Kopites playing and the crowds that fill up Anfield week in week out will be expecting big things of the current team. A lot has changed since Dalglish’s playing days, with the birth of the Premier League and the amount of money in football now, but the fans commitment to Liverpool football club and idolisation of their stars remains the same.

The supporters will never forget Dalglish and his magic as a player and will always look back on him as a true club legend.
