Simon Mignolet may not be the #1 shot-stopper at Anfield following the arrival of Alisson Becker from Roma over the summer, but he is still a top professional and an amazing human being. After the win over Napoli yesterday, he took to Twitter to thank his Brazilian teammate after Alisson produced a game-saving stop from Arkadiusz Milik in stoppage time.

The Brazilian’s heroic stop meant that Liverpool would be progressing to the Champions League round of 16, and he spared the likes of Sadio Mane some serious blushes after the Senegalese frontman missed chance after chance to give the Reds a second goal after Mo Salah’s equaliser. In the end, though, it didn’t matter as Alisson’s brilliance late on ensured the Kopites would be in the draw on Monday for the knockout stages.
It’s extremely unlikely that Mignolet will be called upon in those knockout rounds unless of course Alisson suffers an injury or gets suspended, but he still came out to show his professionalism after the clash. His tweet for Alisson Becker, thanking him for his incredible save at the death, went down really well with the Liverpool fans, and whilst he may not be the star man they need on the pitch, he’s a top professional and an absolute credit to the club off of it.

The Kopites love Mignolet and whilst he may only play sporadically, the fans love his commitment and loyalty to the club both on and off the pitch.
