Liverpool fans have been dealt some awful news on the fitness of Joe Gomez. The young defender has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s unsung heroes this season, yet he suffered a lower leg fracture in early December against Burnley. The latest update on the player, on Liverpool’s website, has left the fans thinking he may not feature again this season.
Jürgen Klopp will not rush Joe Gomez’s recovery from the injury that has kept him out of action since December.

Gomez has shown himself to be a cracking young footballer and when he’s been used at the heart of the Red’s defence alongside Virgil van Dijk he’s always looked like keeping a clean sheet. Klopp will have been delighted to have inherited the youngster after he was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Charlton in summer 2015, and the few serious injuries he’s suffered haven’t stopped him.
The update that Klopp has given is still a really bad one, though. The German gaffer confirmed that his young defender may require surgery on his leg if he is to fully recover, leaving the Kopites with just Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren as their options at the back to partner up with Van Dijk. Next season, though, if it is next season when Gomez returns, should see the young Englishman back at his very best.

Jurgen has no say in it. Gomez's leg will determine it.

The Kopites are desperate for Gomez to return to fitness and will hope the defender can be back to play at least a few more games this season.
