When Jurgen Klopp forked out to sign Fabinho from Monaco back in May the fans all had visions of the Brazilian putting in Merseyside derby winning performances like he did yesterday. The tough-tackling central midfielder showed just what he’s capable of against the Toffees on a day where a number of the Reds shone in what was a truly memorable clash between Red and Blue.

In the end, the winner for Liverpool came in extremely strange circumstances, but it’s hard to say that the game didn’t deserve a winner. After battling it out for 95 minutes, a little bit of luck dropped in the way of Klopp’s side and Divock Origi was on hand to make sure it didn’t go to waste, heading home from just yards out after Jordan Pickford’s blunder, however, it was a day that plenty of fans will remember for Fabinho’s commanding display.
The ex-Monaco man was an absolute rock in the middle of the park at Anfield and whilst Marco Silva’s side had their chances in the first half, the Brazilian powerhouse did his utmost to prevent the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes from creating too much. It was the midfielder’s best performance in a Liverpool shirt to date and he’ll be keen to build on that in the coming weeks, as the fixtures come thick and fast over the festive period.

The Reds couldn’t get enough of Fabinho against Everton and will be keen to see him put in a similar display against Burnley in midweek.
