You can understand why a lot of Liverpool fans are being optimistic ahead of the new season. The club have signed four new players and look better placed than anyone to challenge Manchester City this season. However, the debate rolls on as some fans have claimed that they need to start winning trophies for Jurgen Klopp to truly be viewed as a successful gaffer.
An FA Cup and 3rd place.. You happy? https://t.co/nur3aamVzg

The last trophy that Liverpool won was the League Cup in the 2011/12 season and for a lot of fans, that simply isn’t good enough. Since Jurgen Klopp took over at Anfield in early October 2015 Liverpool have got to three major finals and lost all of them. Whilst getting to the final in itself is impressive, the club won’t truly be viewed as one of the European powerhouses again until they can start to win in the big games.
Last season, whilst most deemed Liverpool to be successful, they failed to win a trophy. The club scraped a spot in the top four, taking it to the last day before confirming Champions League football, before losing in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Chelsea, who had a shocking season by most accounts last time out, ended their campaign with the FA Cup to their name. Liverpool won less silverware than Chelsea but most would agree that the Reds had a better season, leading to this debate about whether or not Klopp needs to win silverware.

Happy with UCL and Prem, FA is a bonus.

We definitely need silverware if nothing else to raise the belief in the players and start that winning habit. I am just happy that I enjoy watching my team so much. Cannot wait for Sunday come on you Redmen. #ynwa

Would prefer to win either BPL or CL. Don't think either is unrealistic, but a trophy of any description would be nice!

No the club must win the league that should be our main objective . If thats not our mission then why pay such prices to bring in players .

As you can see, the fans are all desperate to get some silverware back at Anfield this summer and will be desperate for it to be the Premier League or the Champions League, although the FA Cup would still be nice.
