Liverpool fans on Twitter loved every minute of Joe Gomez’s first game back

Liverpool fans will be gearing up for a massive Champions League semi-final clash with Barcelona in just a couple of week’s time, and hopefully, they’ll have had some time to get Joe Gomez settled by then. The young defender made his return to first-team action yesterday coming off the bench against Porto, and the fans loved his long-awaited return.

The young English defender hadn’t featured for the Kopites since December until yesterday, and when he did finally come back it was a moment the fans savoured. Whilst it was great to see him back in action, though, it wasn’t a great return for the youngster as just three minutes after his entrance, the Reds conceded their first goal of the tie to make it 2-1 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate.
In the end, that one consolation goal from the Portuguese side meant little other than a memento for the goalscorer, the impressive Eder Militao. Gomez was far from at fault for the goal too, as it wasn’t his man from the corner who put the ball in the net, but it hardly looks great when your side concedes just minutes after you’ve come off the bench. Either way, though, that doesn’t matter now and the Kopites are just delighted to have Gomez back and ready for the final run in.
