Liverpool fans on Twitter loved seeing van Dijk boss things against Germany

Yesterdy evening saw Virgil van Dijk captain his side to a 3-0 win over Germany in the UEFA Nations League and the Liverpool man even opened the scoring for his country. After the game, Liverpool took to Twitter to congratulate van Dijk and fellow Anfield star Georginio Wijnaldum on the win, and the fans had lots to say about van Dijk.

Virgil van Dijk has proved himself to be one of the best defenders in both the Premier League and in the world. The Dutchman is a superb leader and he shows that when he wears the armband for Ronald Koeman’s Oranje. The next step for the defender will be to step up and get the armband at Anfield and that’s something that the fans would love to see, with the current captain Jordan Henderson not being every Reds’ cup of tea.

Missing out on watching their commanding defender in club action this week is obviously frustrating for The Kopites but instead they got to see him do his thing at international level and his performance was still one to behold. His opening goal from a corner got the ball rolling before Memphis Depay and Wijnaldum added two more lat on, but for Liverpool fans, seeing their man bag a goal and a clean sheet will be perfect and they’ll just be hoping that his current injury scare doesn’t rule him out of Huddersfield away next Saturday.

The Reds love seeing van Dijk in action and will hope he’s saved a few goals for Huddersfield next weekend if he’s fit.
