Yesterday saw football fans far and wide tune in to see the Premier League’s biggest game of the weekend at Wembley, as Tottenham hosted Manchester United in their temporary home. The on-looking Liverpool fans would have been rooting, rarely, for United to get one over Spurs, and thanks to a David De Gea masterclass, they did just that.
Don’t get why fans need to undermine De Gea’s performance. He was brilliant. It’s like those claiming Alisson’s save v napoli was rubbish because it was straight at him. United did us a favour result wise as well. It’s all good!

Liverpool fans don’t often want to see United win, but as Tottenham have somehow found themselves in what has been touted as a three-way title race with the Reds and Manchester City, it looks like the Merseysider’s fiercest rivals have done them a massive favour by beating the Lilywhites. Liverpool are now nine points clear of Tottenham, and if Wolves can overcome City later it’ll be the perfect weekend.
Jurgen Klopp will know the significance of De Gea’s master class at Wembley. The German won’t admit it, but the way that the Spanish stopper managed to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side inflict Spurs with their sixth Premier League defeat of the season was huge. Liverpool fans everywhere have been coming together to rave over the man who made it happen, and whilst some of them may prefer their own shot-stopper in Alisson Becker, they couldn’t help but marvel at De Gea.
You can read the Reds’ verdict on De Gea here:
Goalkeepers don't get into the right place to block shots by accident, that's a skill in itself

He’s the best in the league, Alisson is brilliant but can’t take anything away from De Gea, single handedly keeping united in games for years

He was great but he would have been disappointed to have let any of those in. Top keeper. Man of the match. But he's not choosing any of those as his best save of the season.

Yes he was brilliant today played the game of his life

There is a reason why those shots are straight at them. De Gea's positioning is nearly flawless, as is Alisson's.

In all fairness, De Gea has carried them for the last four or five years. He is a top keeper, far too good for them!!!
— James B (@JIMBOB4267) January 13, 2019
He's a very brilliant keeper imagine mignolet in that their post yesterday it would have been a different story

De Gea is the best in the premier league… but Allisson looks like a Spartan 🙂

I’m LFC & De Gea world number 1 imo

The Reds would love to have De Gea at Anfield, even if they won’t admit it, and they’ve been rightly praising the Spaniard for his display against Tottenham.
