Liverpool fans on Twitter reminisce over Henderson’s Stamford Bridge stunner

Plenty of Liverpool fans took to Twitter on Sunday evening to see a tweet from Liverpool fan page Empire of the Kop. The tweet contained a throwback to when Jordan Henderson stepped up to score a world-class goal at Stamford Bridge. The goal was two years ago to the day on Sunday and with the Reds facing Chelsea twice this month, it’s a good time to remember the strike.

Henderson very rarely finds the back of the net so you can forgive a few of the Liverpool fans having a groan when he looks to wind up and have a go from distance. However, at Stamford Bridge on that day the Liverpool captain scored an absolute stunner to silence the home ground as The Reds recorded a 2-1 win over Antonio Conte’s Chelsea. Chelsea went on to win the league that season but nothing can be taken away from Henderson’s strike.

The Reds host Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on September 26th before then travelling to Stamford Bridge on the 29th September in the Premier League. If Henderson can repeat his heroics, as unlikely as that is, in either of those fixtures then the fans will be delighted. Liverpool’s run in is about to get a lot tougher and if Henderson can add some goals from midfield to take the pressure off the front three then that would be more than welcomed by the fans.

The fans are loving watching that goal from Henderson back and they’ll be keen to see him repeat it against The Blues when they meet in the coming weeks.
