On Twitter yesterday, Liverpool tweeted some comments from Jordan Henderson about his England and Liverpool teammate Adam Lallana. On the Liverpool website, the Reds’ captain has backed Lallana to have a big impact this season for both club and country, although the fans are all finding it hard to agree.

Liverpool fans on Twitter tend to be a strange bunch, and for them to be slating Lallana after Henderson’s comments isn’t exactly fair on the midfielder. The ex-Southampton man missed the majority of last season through injury and he’ll be hoping to have better luck this season as the Reds look to put in a real title challenge, although it certainly won’t be easy for him given the current competition.
It’s hard to see where Lallana fits into the current Liverpool set-up. The midfielder is more of a number ten and with Jurgen Klopp using a 4-3-3 you’d struggle to shoehorn him into one of the three midfield spots. Then you’ve got the fact that the competition for a place in the starting eleven is tougher than ever, although, if Lallana can stay fit and get some minutes in the FA Cup and off the bench in the Premier League then he could force his way into the team.

Trying to select his buddy when himself is facing a stiff competition to make first eleven. Glory days are long gone time for winners to take over. Accept it Hendo

The Reds won’t be expecting much from Lallana this season but will still be hoping he can surprise them if he does get a chance.
