Liverpool fans on Twitter think Shaqiri could be stopping Fekir deal

This summer’s pre-season has been a superb one for Liverpool, new man, Xherdan Shaqiri has been superb in his new role under Jurgen Klopp, scoring his first goal against Manchester United and clipping in a lovely ball for Sturridge to head home against Torino yesterday. The Swiss Magician’s displays have even convinced some fans that they don’t need to sign Nabil Fekir.

The start of the Premier League will be a telling time for Liverpool fans. New signings Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alisson will also be looking to prove their worth at Anfield and they’ll have a tougher job than Shaqiri who already knows the league and has played against the same teams that Liverpool will be up against. It is probably for that reason, that the 26-year-old has managed to settle so well at the club so far.

Shaqiri received a lot of stick when he was at Stoke City. The winger has been accused of being lazy and inconsistent in his time at the Bet 365 and will be hoping to dispell these stereotypes of his game. At Liverpool, it seems the ex-Bayern Munich man will be used as more than just a winger. Jurgen Klopp could use Shaqiri as a number ten or even a central midfielder, with this versatility making the Switzerland star one of the biggest bargains so far.

As you can see, the supporters are keen to see Shaqiri take up that role that the fans thought Fekir would be signed to fill.
