In the build-up to Liverpool’s huge Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, there was a lot of speculation over who Jurgen Klopp would start for the vital clash. Virgil van Dijk came off injured against Southampton with a bruised rib and then when Klopp rested him for the Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea in the week, the fans were fearing the worst.

The fans fears weren’t realised, though, and the fans were lucky enough to see their dominant Dutchman start against The Blues. The game finished 1-1 in the end as Eden Hazard’s first-half opener was cancelled out by a late, late stunner from Daniel Sturridge, just minutes after the striker came off the bench. The game could have gone either way but with van Dijk at the back, it’s hard to see The Reds conceding more than just the odd goal.
The draw means Liverpool are yet to face defeat this season, despite already having played the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Leicester City away as well as PSG at Anfield. The run that Klopp has got his side on is an incredible achievement and as far as the Reds are concerned, games away at Napoli and at home to Manchester City in the next week will be ones that are still winnable for their superb side, they’ll just be hoping Van Dijk can be wrapped in cotton wool so he won;t miss either of the huge ties.
