It was a mixed performance from the Reds, who at one point were 3-0 up before being pegged back to 3-3.

However, two players that did impress once again, particularly in an attacking sense, were their full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

The duo have played a significant role in Liverpool’s recent success, with the Scottish international proving 13 assists in all competitions last season while the Englishman managed one goal and 16 assists.

Both made vital contributions against the Austrian outfit on Wednesday. Robertson netted his first goal of the season to put his team 2-0 up and was assisted by none other than Alexander-Arnold.

Added to that attacking input, they both also played their part defensively. Indeed, Robertson made two tackles and two interceptions in the 90 minutes, while Alexander-Arnold chipped in with three tackles and one interception as well as winning one aerial duel (via WhoScored).

Both players are now firm fan favourites at Anfield and plenty of supporters were quick to praise them on social media after the win against Salzburg, with some even labelling them as the best full-backs in world football at the moment.

Here is what some Liverpool fans had to say about Alexander-Arnold and Robertson on Twitter…
