Liverpool: Fans react to Adam Lallana scoring against Manchester United

Liverpool managed to rescue a point at Old Trafford on Sunday, coming from 1-0 down to draw the game 1-1 (via BBC Sport).

Marcus Rashford had put the Red Devils ahead in the first half, converting Daniel James’ cross. But the Reds managed to level the scores with just five minutes to play, with substitute Adam Lallana netting a dramatic equaliser.

It was the Englishman’s first goal in two-and-a-half years, with his last strike coming against Middlesbrough in May 2017 (via Mirror).

He has struggled a lot with injuries in the last few years (Transfermarkt) which has ultimately seen him lose his place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting 11. Indeed, the former Southampton man has been a substitute in all but one of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this term and prior to the game at Old Trafford, had only managed to play 11 minutes (Transfermarkt).

But when given 19 minutes to impress against United, Lallana certainly took his opportunity and was the unlikely hero for the Reds.

Naturally, the Liverpool supporters were delighted that their team found an equaliser, but most were surprised it came from Lallana. He has been criticised at times by a section of Reds supporters, but they were giving him plenty of love on Twitter for scoring at Old Trafford…
