Liverpool: Fans react to Joe Gomez England snub

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s England plans again.
Can Joe Gomez regain his starting spot?
Yes

No

The 22-year-old centre-half has enjoyed a stellar few seasons at Anfield when fit and playing, and was not so long ago at the forefront of Southgate’s team.
In the 2017/18 season, he made 31 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool while featuring for his country (via Transfermarkt).
However, with the rise of Joel Matip as partner to the undroppable Virgil van Dijk, and the growth of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gomez has found playing time difficult.
So much so, that the young defender has only managed one starting appearance so far this season for the Reds – but most fans argue that he should be in the national team anyway.
While the former Charlton man isn’t playing week in week out for his club, some argue he could shine for England in the qualifiers given half a chance:
No place for Joe Gomez, as the consequences of not playing regularly for Liverpool become clear. https://t.co/KAbKqP0z5L

Would love to know why he went through a phase of playing Welbeck then. He makes it up as he goes along. Stop complicating things and trying to look clever, play your best 11/team. Trippier, Keane, Rose, Rice are not it.

It’s irrelevant…he is by far Englands best centre back.
That easy run and failure in the World Cup masks that Southgate is a terrible manager.— @RAB360 (@RAB360) October 13, 2019
Southgate is now just showing inept he is at management

When Joe gets back into a rhythm he strolls into that team. Wouldn’t worry if I was him!

Shocking decision. Considering the form of the selections he made the other day.

Gomez gets penalized for being behind the two best CB’s in Europe? Southgate is an embarrassment.
