Liverpool fans will always have a place in their hearts for the ex-players who connected with the Anfield crowd. Lucas Leiva remains a huge fan favourite, and the Kopites were buzzing as he won Lazio’s player of the year award at Lazio for his efforts in 2018 in what was his first full calendar year with the midfielder joining the Rome club in summer 2017.
What a way to start the year! Thank you all that have voted and i hope we can continue this in 2019. pic.twitter.com/I0hxKqsx10

The Brazilian midfielder absolutely loved his time at Anfield and spent a whopping ten years at the club. Even towards the end of his spell on Merseyside when he wasn’t a starter under Jurgen Klopp, the fans were always delighted to see him involved in matchday squads and off the pitch events that the players and manager took part in.
Whilst the Reds would have happily kept their Brazilian midfielder at the club, he left at the age of 30 and still has enough in the tank to perform in Serie A with Lazio. He’s going out with a bang too, his performances in Italy have been superb, and whilst he’ll never emulate his star status in Rome that he has in Liverpool, the Brazilian will continue to go about his business until he hangs up his boots.

The Kopites absolutely adore Lucas Leiva, and when he retires they’ll be desperate for him to return to the club in some capacity.
