Liverpool: Fans think Naby Keita was brought on too late against Manchester United

Several Liverpool fans believe that Naby Keita was brought on as a substitute too late, as the Reds drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford (via BBC Sport).

The former RB Leipzig midfielder began the game on the bench, but he was brought on by Jurgen Klopp after 82 minutes of the match.

The Reds had been behind since the 36th minute and were still chasing the game when Keita was sent onto the pitch. Ultimately, they did manage to level things thanks to an Adam Lallana goal five minutes from time, but a lot of Liverpool fans feel that with the team behind they needed to bring Keita on much earlier.

Keita has struggled for much game time this season, largely due to injury problems. Indeed, he missed five league matches with a muscle problem earlier in the campaign and his brief cameo at Old Trafford was actually his first appearance in the Premier League this term (via Transfermarkt).

However, the Guinean is arguably a more creative midfielder than the likes of Jordan Henderson, which explains why plenty of fans wanted to see him brought on sooner by Klopp with the team losing.

The stats back that up. Keita managed to score nine goals and create seven assists in the 17/18 season for Leipzig (Transfermarkt), whilst Henderson has managed just two goals and seven assists in all competitions in his last two and a bit seasons (Transfermarkt).

Here is how some Liverpool fans reacted when Keita was brought on as a substitute in the 82nd minute…
