Liverpool fans took to Twitter to celebrate Naby Keita’s first LFC goal

Last night saw a number of players break their duck and score a goal. Shane Long scored his first since January, Jordan Henderson scored his first since September 2017, Mo Salah’s strike ended a six-game spell and finally, Naby Keita’s was his first goal since joining the Reds. Keita’s was especially meaningful for the fans too, as they’ve been dying for him to score.

It took a while, but when it did come, Keita’s goal looked like a big one for the midfielder. It was like a weight had been lifted and he started to play with freedom for the rest of the clash, despite being suspect in the opening 35 minutes. Regardless, it’s the facts that matter, and Keita opened his Liverpool account during the 3-1 win with a fine headed equaliser.

It wasn’t the best goal that the midfielder has ever scored, but it may well be the biggest as far as he’s concerned. When the Liverpool players were filming for their goal gifs back in the summer, no one would have thought we’d be waiting until April to finally see Naby Keita’s, yet here we are. All the Guneian needs now is to add two or three more before the season ends and then have an explosive campaign next season.

The Kopites will still be beaming at the thought of Keita’s first goal for the club, and will be desperate for it to be the first of many.
