Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are relieved after the Daily Mail revealed they had reached an agreement over a new deal with Jordan Henderson.
Their vice captain has supposedly agreed a deal worth in the region of £100,000-a-week and it will keep him at Anfield for the five years.
Henderson is seen is the man to step into Steven Gerrard’s shoes but there was a time when this was in doubt after he rejected a deal with only 14 months left on his current deal.
But the Anfield faithful will be relieved this is now sorted and they can look to resume talks with Raheem Sterling at the end of the season.
Henderson is expected to captain the side next season and despite this season being disappointing, one positive they can draw from it, is the rise of the England international.
Punters in the Transfer Tavern would like to see the heart of Liverpool’s midfield next season featuring Henderson alongside Emre Can, who has also stood out this season.
Can has played out of position for most of the season having been used in numerous defensive positions, but this has not stopped him from being a key player for Rodgers’ side.
