Liverpool flop determined to stay at club despite awful debut season

Christian BentekeThe Liverpool supporting punters in the Transfer Tavern have been far from impressed by one of last summer’s recruits but, despite speculation, it seems he doesn’t want to leave.

The Independent state Liverpool’s £32.5m recruit from last summer, Christian Benteke, wants to stay at Anfield despite poor performances and a severe lack of playing time under Jurgen Klopp.

Since becoming the second-most expensive signing in Liverpool history last summer, behind only Andy Carroll, Benteke has struggled to make a lasting impression and has scored just eight goals during his 35 appearances this term.

Those poor performances have seen him drop behind Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino in the pecking order but, despite this disappointments, Benteke has stated he’s still committed to the Reds.

“Obviously it has not been the best season for me here. I haven’t played like I want to and that is frustrating but this is part of football. Even though things have not been as I wanted I’m really happy here.”

“Playing for this club is exciting, just like what I thought it would be. Now I want to finish this season well.”

Despite these comments, many fans in the bar believe it would be best to cash-in on Benteke this summer as they feel the options they currently possess are significantly better, whilst they’re also hoping Klopp makes some exciting signings.
