Liverpool flop open to mammoth Premier League switch

Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been scratching their heads all day, unsure of what to make of the news that one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history could be heading for the door marked exit.

One of our regulars, perched on the corner of the bar, has been pouring over his copy of the Mirror, and has told bar staff that  they are reporting that Christian Benteke is considering a move to fellow Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

Benteke, who moved to Anfield last summer from Aston Villa for a whopping £32.5m, has found it hard to force his way into the plans of Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp and feels his time may have come to leave after just one season on Merseyside.

The staff here at the Tavern can’t work out why the forward would want to quit so quickly, however the Landlord pointed out that the arrival of Sadio Mane from Southampton earlier this week means that his position within the club has been further reduced.

Despite being on the fringes of the Liverpool squad last season, the 25-year-old still managed to notch 10 goals, and the hierarchy at Liverpool are reportedly asking Palace for £30m to secure a deal for the Belgian international.

Liverpool fans, how happy would you be with £30m for this flop? And Palace fans, would you really be happy for Pardew to spend that much on one striker? Let us know below…
