Liverpool focused on keeping star man at Anfield

Luis SuarezMetro contains our daily update on the Luis Suarez saga, and it is a cracker.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is still holding firm on his stance of not allowing the player to leave the club and certainly not allowing him to train with the first team until his issues are resolved, but it is clear that Rodgers still wants the situation rectified.

He explained: “It is something that we have to do everything we can to fix.”

He further elaborated by noting that whilst Suarez is not focused on the team, he will not be playing for Liverpool and seems happy to allow the player to train alone – although as one of our punters quipped, he will be missing the first few games of the season through suspension anyway.

Rodgers claimed: “If you don’t have that commitment and those standards then you won’t play. It’s as simple as that.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, if they’re not pulling their weight then they are letting down the club, the city and everyone who has stood by them.”

As one of our punters comments, it is more than understandable that Suarez would want out of the club given their lack of Champions League football, but it looks like Rodgers is determined to keep him for as long as he can.

It was only yesterday in the tavern that we were discussing the fact that Suarez was not planning on making any form of apology to either the club or Rodgers himself.

Recently retired club legend Jamie Carragher recently quipped that Suarez needs to ‘sort himself out’ – a sentiment that has gone down well with a great deal of Liverpool supporters in the tavern today.

Where will the Suarez situation be resolved before the big kick off this weekend or will it drag on until September 2nd? Let us know your thoughts below.
