Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left encouraged by reports from Mail Online that Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen has been given the all clear to join the Premier League this summer by manager Frank de Boer.
Eriksen is approaching the final year of his contract with the Dutch club and that could see him departing the Amsterdam Arena this summer as they look to cash in on the 21-year-old who was ever so impressive at the European Championships last year.
The Reds will face competition from Italian giants AC Milan while German side Borussia Dortmund have also shown some interest in the Danish international.
de Boer has now stated that the club won’t stand in Eriksen’s way if he decided to leave the club for Anfield.
“It is up to Christian what he wants,” de Boer said. “If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him. I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.
“But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can’t stop him.”
After helping the Dutch side to three consecutive Eredivisie titles, Eriksen may view this is as the ideal opportunity to leave with a possible move to Brendan Rodgers’ youthful Liverpool team on the horizon.
