Liverpool given major blow in race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker

immobileLiverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern reel off more European strikers as talkSPORT revealed that Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile is happy at the Signal Iduna Park.

The Italian striker joined Dortmund on hot form but has since struggled to score as they lurk around the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.

He was the top scorer in Serie A last season after he banged in 22 goals for Torino but this campaign he has only managed to net seven goals for the German club.

Liverpool fans hoped that with the tough times at Dortmund the Italian would be looking for an escape route.

But this wish couldn’t be further away from the truth as the 24-year-old insists that he is committed to the cause under Jurgen Klopp.

“I chose my path and I’m going to follow it all the way to the end,” said Immobile.

“I would do this again. I feel I’m at the right level to play with Borussia Dortmund.

“After the [German] triumph in the World Cup some of our players were a bit too distracted and we could not replicate in the matches what we were doing in training.

“The hardship I encountered when coming into this team didn’t help me integrate myself. But it’s not true that [Borussia Coach Jurgen] Klopp doesn’t help me. We talk a lot.

“People only remember what they want to remember. Even [Robert] Lewandowski only scored seven goals in his first year, then he started winning and scoring and he left a good memory of himself.

“Hopefully I’ll get the same opportunity.”

Liverpool fans drinking in the corner of the Football Transfer Tavern are currently uncertain as to who the club will now bring in, and feel that an addition of a new striker will help the club significantly.
