The Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, no matter how much they adore manager Jurgen Klopp, are thirsty for more signings this summer, after the early arrivals of both Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.
The Reds are back at Europe’s top table, the Champions League, once again this season and thus will need a squad capable of handling the rigours of a season on the continent if they are to maintain their progression under the former Borussia Dortmund boss.
With that in mind, according to reports from SPORTBILD in Germany the Merseysiders are interested in a move for Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller, who saw a dip in his playtime under new manager Carlo Ancelotti last season.
Furthermore, the German outlet goes onto state that top four rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are also in the running for the 27-year-old, as well as Champions League finalists Juventus, although Liverpool are seemingly at the forefront with Klopp having made his feelings over a move clear to the powers that be at Anfield.
However, before the resident Reds here in the Tavern get excited, as quickly as the rumours appeared Bayern’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was, conveniently, on hand to counter.
“Thomas is still unsaleable,” he told the tabloid.
“Because he fits perfectly with FC Bayern. There is no discussion about this.”
Liverpool fans, what do you make of the links and Rummenigge’s comments? Was it all a bit hopeful in the first place? Let us know below…
