Liverpool fans will feel relieved that their side managed to come through yesterday’s game without dropping any points, as it looked as if the world was against them when Burnley were gifted their first goal as Alisson Becker was clearly fouled by James Tarkowski in the process.
The Reds’ attention will now turn towards Wednesday’s clash with Bayern Munich, but supporters will be sweating over the fitness levels of Trent Alexander-Arnold after he was substituted yesterday.
What’s the news?
Alexander-Arnold was substituted as a precaution in the closing stages of yesterday’s win over Burnley.
And, it has now been revealed (as per Liverpool Echo) that Liverpool are hopeful that the Englishman will be fit for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
The youngster will be monitored closely over the next couple of days but the early indications are positive.
It’s safe to say that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s fitness levels could prove to be the difference between Liverpool going through and being knocked out, as James Milner has looked less than comfortable and has received a lot of stick during his performances at right-back this season.
Many supporters will agree that Alexander-Arnold’s pace and crossing ability could work wonders down the right-hand side against a Bayern Munich side that left gaps during the first leg. Kingsley Coman may operate on the left-hand side of midfield, so Alexander-Arnold will be needed on the field to keep him quiet.
Indeed, hearing that the early signings are positive and that the Reds are hopeful that Alexander-Arnold will be fit will come as a potentially huge boost for Liverpool fans, as his quality and tackling ability will be needed against a very attack-minded side in what is arguably one of the Reds’ biggest games left in their season.
Liverpool fans, would be happy with Milner starting if Alexander-Arnold isn’t fit?
