Liverpool hopeful of winning race for one of Europe’s deadliest strikers

LewandowskiLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have got all their fingers and toes crossed as they sip their pints of bitter, amid reports that their manager is hoping to pull off an audacious transfer swoop.

The Daily Telegraph state Jurgen Klopp is hopeful of convincing Robert Lewandowski to move to Anfield if he leaves Bayern Munich, which would see the lethal Polish international reject the advances of Real Madrid.

Klopp has played a direct role in the meteoric rise of Lewandowski, after he plucked the striker from obscurity at Lech Poznan by bringing the Polish star to Borussia Dortmund for just £3.4m.

Lewandowski, who has 23 goals in 26 games this season, is now valued in excess of £50m and Franz Beckenbauer, Bayern Munich’s club president, recently confirmed that Real Madrid are keen on the striker.

Despite Klopp’s hopes, snatching Lewandowski would be a massive coup for Liverpool- especially as the Reds are extremely unlikely to be able to offer Champions League football to the 27-year-old.

Our landlord has urged the excited punters at the bar to lower their expectations, as he believes this approach will only end in heartbreak.

Liverpool fans, is their any way you can land Lewandowski? Let us know in the comments below!
